Real Time Communications Service
Conditions for Participation
To participate in the Internet2 Commons Real
Time Communications Service, a prospective resource provider
must meet the following criteria.
1) Serve Real-Time Communication needs of a potential Internet2
community.
2) Be recommended by an Internet2 member other than the
resource provider itself and obtain a “champion” who is either
a member of the Commons Management Team (CMT) or an appointee
of the CMT. This champion will represent the product or service
to the CMT as a whole during its evaluations and deliberations.
3) Be evaluated by the Commons Management Team, or appointed
Internet2 member committee, on the basis of functionality,
reliability, ease of use, and sustainability. Consideration
will be also given to whether the product or service is standards-based,
open-source, multi-platform, etc.
4) The prospective resource provider must be a Regular,
Corporate or Affiliate Internet2 member in good standing.
5) Seek input from service users and members of the
community. Adjust service offerings to meet community needs
and expectations.
6) Annual reviews will be conducted by the CMT to determine
continuance, based on mutual benefits to the resource provider
and the member community.
7) A Service Level Agreement (SLA) will be drafted for each
resource provider to set clear responsibilities, guidelines
and timetables.
